Der Mitbegründer von id Software und Schöpfer von Doom, John Carmack, wird auch weiterhin Spiele entwickeln, wie Engadget berichtet. Im vergangenen Jahr kehrte Entwickler-Legende id Software den Rücken, um sich voll und ganz als Chief Technology Officer bei Oculus VR auf seine Arbeit konzentrieren zu können.
Laut Unternehmens-Chef Brendan Iribe arbeitet Carmack an First-Party Software, die die Oculus Rift präsentieren sollen. “He’s working on a lot of exciting tech. But, his heart and soul and history certainly lies in the game-development side. That’s always been Epic [Games]‘s philosophy. And it’s what allowed them to make what they made. It’s certainly been id’s philosophy in the past. It’s been John Carmack’s philosophy — you gotta eat your own dog food here, and develop internal content also.”
In den nächsten Monaten wird man das Team mit weiteren Entwicklern aufstocken, die sich dann um diese Projekte kümmern.
